Changing Organizational Culture
The focus of Paracomm's consulting practice involves
a transformation in how people observe their environment and a
reformulation of commitments and possibilities.
A typical enagement involves an initial three to five-day
"retreat" to engage tough questions and straight talk relating
to the organization's
existing culture and "the way it is around here". By the end of this
initial "defining moment", three things should be crystal clear to
all participants:
- Who we are and what we're up to...our vision as our ground
of being
- Who is accountable for what and the distinction between accountability
and responsibility
- What the structure for fulfillment (design) is for accomplishing
and managing breakthrough
results that are "outside the box".
As a consequence of the design, the client will
have clarity about strategic thrusts and a variety of projects
for advancing
the
desired changes and producing
unprecedented results.
An engagement will normally require one to two years
to reach a point of "natural sustainability" where the "new culture"
has become "the way it is". Our role
after the initial session(s) is generally
limited to coaching project teams and intervening when the "old culture" attempts to assimilate the new ideas into more of the same.
Throughout any consulting engagement, we will also
be coaching the CEO and selected executives with respect to their
leadership
objectives and style.
